Obit from Fremont Paper Lillian A. Shanahan, 78, of Albert Lea, Minn., died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at St. John's Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. She was born June 18, 1927, in David City to Alois and Frances (Divis) Pelan. She married Leo Shanahan on Nov. 14, 1950, in Marietta. They were residents of Saunders County and members of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Parish in Plasi. The couple engaged in farming and grade A dairy operations. This union lasted 38 years until her husband preceded her in death. She continued the dairy operation and farming with the help of her son, Patrick. She retired from this venture in 1998. She later cooked at St. Mary's School in David City and worked with her cousins in the catering service. Survivors include: two daughters, Lynn (Mrs. Bill) Koza of Albert Lea and Peggy (Mrs. Dennis) Souba of Omaha; two sons, David Shanahan of Wabasha, Minn., and Patrick Shanahan of Prague; sister-in-law, Geneva Pelan of David City; three brothers, Bob (and wife, Eilene) Shanahan, Francis (and wife, Mary) Shanahan and Marv (and wife, Lori) Shanahan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Roh, Ed and Lorene Stuchlik and Ken and Patricia Tvrdy; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law. A Christian prayer service will be 7:30 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Kucera Funeral Home in Prague with visitation from 5-7:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi. A memorial has been established to Crossroads Community Hospice in Albert Lea.
