Published in the Ord Quiz, Ord, Nebraska, Thursday, January 3, 1980, Page 6, Column 1 Hlavinka Rites Held at Chapel Funeral services for Robert Hlavinka of Ord were held on Monday, December 31, 1979 at 2 pm at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Burial was in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery. Robert Hlavinka, son of Frank and Mary Dohnal Hlavinka, was born on January 17, 1907 in Valley County, northeast of Ord, and died December 28, 1979 in Ord at the age of 72. Robert was raised in the Valley County area and attended rural school in Valley County. After his schooling, he farmed at home. On October 20, 1936, he was united in marriage to Bessie Novak at Burwell. He continued to work on farms in the area after his marriage. In 1946, they move to Ord where he was employed by the Valley County Roads Department until his retirement five years ago. Survivors include his wife, Bessie of Ord; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Betty) Ruenholl of Syracuse and Mrs. John (Shirley) Jonas of Kearney; three granddaughters; one grandson; one sister, Frances Holzinger of North Loup; one brother, Edward Hlavinka of McCook; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
