Linda J. Jones, 68, of Hewitt, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 23, at Malakoff Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Marshall officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, Waco. Linda Jo was born in Malakoff, Texas, to the late John and Louise Shumate. She attended school and graduated from Malakoff High School with honors. Linda married John Richard Jones on Aug. 3, 1963. She traveled from San Antonio, Texas, to Colorado Springs, Colo., to RAF Mildenhall, England, and to Alamogordo, N.M., and was the prime example of an Air Force wife. During John's many stations of service, Linda worked as a bookkeeper, volunteered for Family Services and was voted Volunteer of the Year, worked at Fort Sam Houston Bank, Western Bank, and Waco State Bank in Waco. Linda loved to work with her ceramics, was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Hewitt. Preceding her in death was brother-in-law, Norman Millican. Linda is survived by her husband of 49 years, John Richard Jones; daughter, Lisa Czajkowski and husband, Anthony; son, Mark Jones; grandchildren, Krysten, Scott, Jake, and Schuyler; siblings, Doyle Shumate and Polly, of Mabank, Shirley Millican, of Irving, Barbara Hearn and husband, Jack, of Star Harbour, Quieva Williams and husband, Glenn, of Gun Barrell City, Mary Carter and husband, Fred, Wayne Shumate and wife, Rebecca, of Palestine, Jerry Shumate, of Irving, and Marsha Grant and husband, Phillip, of Plano; sister-in-law, Linda Chamberland and husband, Bob, of Waxahachie; and numerous extended family and friends.
