Richard David "Dick" McIntyre, age 78, the son of Jesse A. McIntyre, Sr., and Flora E. (McMahon) McIntyre, was born March 9, 1927, near Farragut, Iowa, and passed away December 18, 2005, in Shenandoah, Iowa. The early years of Dick's life was spent in Corning, Rock Port, Craig and Fairfax, Missouri, and Farragut, Iowa, areas, where he attended school and received his education. On July 15, 1951, Dick was united in marriage to Dorothy Mascher and to this marriage Rick, Steve, Tim and John were born. Dick farmed in the Farragut area until the 1990's. He also auctioneered with his brother Jesse for 20 years and managed the Elks Lodge in Shenandoah for many years. After retiring from farming he also worked part time at the Farragut Tavern. Dick was a member of the Farragut United Methodist Church, Farragut Community Club, Shenandoah Jaycees and Shenandoah Elks Lodge #1122. He enjoyed being a 4-H leader and was an active donor and supporter of various groups in the Fremont and Page county areas. Preceding Dick in death were his parents; brother, Carl McIntyre; and brother-in-law, Richard Mascher. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of 54 years; sons and daughters-in-laws, Rick and Rita McIntyre of Farragut, Steve McIntyre of Indianola, Iowa, Tim McIntyre and Teri of Council Bluffs, Iowa and John and Linda McIntyre of Omaha, Nebraska. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Taylor, Reed and Matthew McIntyre, Lori Chenoweth, and Lori and Lisa Costello; great grandson, Cody Chenoweth; brother, Jesse A. McIntyre, Jr. of Shenandoah; sister, Patty Johnson and husband, Wilbert, of Red Oak, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Donna McIntyre and Elaine Peters of Colorado, and Connie Mascher of Farragut; and brother and sister-in-law, Doris and Bud Cooper of Shenandoah; plus other relatives and friends.
