Richard Lee Reffett Sr., 67, of Collinsville, died March 12, 2009, at Memorial Hospital, Martinsville. He was born Jan. 31, 1942, in Moberly, Mo., to Clarence and Clare Belle Ramsey Reffett. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Lee Reffett Jr.; two brothers, Melvin Albert Reffett and William Eugene Reffett; three sisters, Mary Belle Best, Catherine Mae Nelson and Eva Mae Hendren. He graduated from Moberly Junior College in Missouri. He was a member of the Patrick Henry Lodge 82, Knights of Pythias of Martinsville, was a Past Chancellor, received the lodges first Pythian of the Year award in 1981. He was a member of the Grand Lodge Knights of Pythias of Virginia, becoming the Grand Chancellor and receiving the Golden Spur, the highest honor that can be bestowed on a Pythian. He retired as regional manager with the Getinge Co. He was a member of Gospel Road Baptist Church in Collinsville. Surviving are his wife, Betty Joe Hendren Reffett; two daughters, Robin Richardson and Meredith Reffett; a brother, Roland Roy Reffett; five grandchildren. Burial will be in Henry Memorial Park in Bassett.
