Marshall William Koontz of Scottsville was the son of the late Lawson William and Eula (Snyder) Koontz. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gladson Koontz, his first wife June, his second wife Ruby and his stepfather Albert Wertman. Mr. Koontz attended the Calvary Chapel of Fluvanna. Mr. Koontz's military career included serving in the Korean War where he with the US Army as a Ranger. He was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was member of the Charlottesville VFW Post #1827, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, the Charlottesville American Legion, the Manchu Association, the 2nd Division Association Inc., the Disabled Veterans Association Post 33 of Charlottesville, and the 2nd Indian Head Division Association. Mr. Koontz was survived by his wife, a son, three daughters, a sister, four brothers, seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, four step children, eight step-grandchildren, and his brother-in-law and best friend. The funeral was held April 9, 2010. Arrangements were handled by Thacker Brothers in Scottsville, Virginia.
