William Joshua "Josh" Ivy was born May 16, 1876 in Huntington, Angelina County, Texas, to Jamerson Wiggins Ivy and Martha J. "Jannie" Collins. He stood 5ft 8 1/2in tall, had blue eues, brown hair and a fair complexion. He was married to Alfa Omega "Minnie" Russell in about 1903. They had a son, Bolivar. Josh was a stock farmer in Huntington. He enlisted in the Texas Rangers as a LOYALTY RANGER onJune 29, 1918 thru February 1919. Loyalty Rangers worked under cover as a State Secret Service under the Hobby Loyalty Act of 1918. No one knew what these men were doing. It was a dangerous job as it was during the Mexican Revolution and WWI and times were rough in Texas. In 1920, Josh was a timber contractor in Angelina County and by 1930, he was an ice man. William Joshua Ivy died October 23, 1949 in Angelina County and is buried in the Jonesville Cemetery, Angelina County, Texas. (Ranger info kindly provided by Nancy E. Brown #46822811)
