FORMER COLLIN RESIDENT DEAD ABE SMITH, FATHER OF GEO. W. SMITH OF MCKINNEY, DIES AT DENTON. Abe Smith, a resident of Texas since 1876 and of Denton since 1904. died at his home at the corner of Avenue A and Mill street at 8:50 o'clock Saturday morning. Death resulted from a stroke of paralysis which occurred some time. during Tuesday night. and from which he never rallied. Mr. Smith was found lying partly on his bed. Wednesday morning by his son. Albert, the stroke coming without warning, as he had been in fairly good health apparently up to the time he suffered the stroke. Burial was made Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Rowlett cemetery, near his old home in Collin county, services being in charge. of the Lebanon-Frisco W. 0. W. Camp, of which he had long been a member. Abe Smith was born in Kentucky July 21, 1851. In 1876 he came to Texas, settling between Plano and Allen and later moving to near Lebanon, Collin county, where he lived until he came to Denton in 1904. He went back to Kentucky in 1887 to marry Mirs Louis B. Parker, who died some years ago. Nine children were born to them, eight of whom survive him as follows: Noel Smith of Frisco, Alex Smith of Dallas, George W. Smith of McKinney, Wallace Smith, now in the army at Fort Sam Houston, F Warren Smith now in the Sixth infantry at Camp Bowie, C. I. Russell | Smith of Bellevue and Miss Elizabeth and Albert Smith, who made their home with their father here. --Denton Record-Chronicle. The Courier-Gazette. September 17, 1917. Page 1.
