Josephine Chrastil, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vaclav Heina, was born March 18, 1858 at Prelepor Okres Tabor Kris Milyisko. She came to this country with her parents on July 4, 1871, locating in Lincoln. Her parents then moved to a farm five miles east of Crete. She was married on May 20, 1879 to Joseph Chrastil, and they made their home ten miles southeast of Crete, where they resided thirty-four years until the death of her husband seventeen years ago. She remained on the farm seven years after his death and then moved to Crete to make her home with her daughter, Helen Unger and husband, where she lived until her death. To this union there were nine children born, seven daughters and two son. One daughter, Josephine, preceded her in death in 1905. Those who most deeply mourn her death are Anna Chrastil of Hallam; Mary Hynek of Wilber; Antonie Chrastil of Pleasant Hill; Rose Vosta of Hallam; Emma Barinka of Hallam; Helen Unger of Crete; John and Joseph Chrastil of Hallam; and twenty-four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Francis Hiena of Agenda, Kansas. Mrs. Chrastil died April 19, 1930 at 8:45 p.m. at the age of 72 years, 1 month, and 1 day after a period of six weeks' illness. Funeral services were held at the Lou Unger home, 305 South Main, Tuesday, April 22, at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. Ibser officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery by the side of her husband. Source: The Crete News, April 24, 1930
