Bio

Raymond Herman Niekamp, 82, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:05 p.m., Friday, May 3, at St. Louis Catholic Church with the Rev. John Guzaldo as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., and Rosary service at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 2, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Raymond was born in Lott, Texas, to the late John and Annie (Renz) Niekamp. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for 57 years, a Grand Knight and past Faithful Navigator and District Deputy of Council #1358. Raymond worked for Central Texas Iron Works for 37 years and did ornamental iron at home. He has been a lifelong Catholic and a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary and Ida; and brothers, Robert and Andrew. He is survived by his loving wife, Christine, of Waco; daughters, Ann Marie Darr and husband, Frank, of Round Rock, and Cathy Niekamp, of Waco; sons, John Niekamp, of Austin, and Virgil Niekamp, of Hurst; grandchildren, Kristen Niekamp, Ryan Niekamp, Kari Ann Darr and Lori Marie Darr; sisters, Dora Descoteaux, Irene Scroggins and husband, James; brothers, Anton Niekamp, and Alvin Niekamp and wife, Ella Mae; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
