HICKS, BAILY M. Ex-Quanah Man Dies in Crash Near Childress Quanah, Feb. 6 – Bailey M. Hicks, about 35, a resident of Pettit, Texas, former resident of Quanah, was killed a few miles northeast of Childress Sunday night as he and his wife drove into a bridge which was under repair. The accident occurred in the Childress County Community Center community about ten o'clock. Mrs. Hicks, suffering severe wounds, is in the Jeter-Townsend Hospital, Childress, still unconscious. The body of the accident victim has been brought to Quanah where it lies at the Smith funeral Home pending funeral arrangements. The funeral will be held in Quanah but no definite arrangements have been made. The victim is survived by his injured wife, his father, Bailey M. Hicks, of Tuscson,Ariz., John and Guy Hicks, Levelland, Texas, and three younger brothers, all of Tucson, names of whom were not learned. Parents of Mrs,. Hicks, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Horton, live in the North Groesbeck community northwest of Quanah. (The Vernon Daily Record, Vernon, Tex., Feb. 6, 1939)
