Funeral services for Elsie Camden, 83, of Slaton will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Slaton with the Rev. Lewis Wilkins officiating. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. Mrs. Camden died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at University Medical Center in Lubbock. She was born June 1, 1920 in Garza County. She graduated from Southland High School in 1937. On August 5, 1944 in Amarillo, Elsie married Bob Camden. He preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 2000. In 1949, they moved to Southland and farmed in Hackberry, beginning in 1951. They moved to Slaton in 1962. She was an office manager for a number of insurance agencies in Slaton and retired in 1999. Elsie was a charter and an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for 60 years. She was a member of the ELCA and AAL. Elsie is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law, Linda and Jim Parker; three grandchildren, Shelley Campbell, Sally Wright, and Jacob Parker; and six great-grandchildren.
