Parmar was born October 7, 1930, in Littlefield, Texas. Later his family moved to Upshur County, residing in the Stamps community northeast of Gilmer. Parmar graduated from New Diana High School in 1948. He received a B.S. degree from (at the time) East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce in 1951 and an M.S. degree in 1952. He served as principal for the elementary school in New Diana before entering the U.S. Army at the time of the Korean War. During his army service, he taught soldiers basic elementary subjects. After the army, Parmar taught math at Gilmer High School. In 1955, he began working for General Dynamics in the aerospace industry, as an engineer, conducting tests in super sonic and hyper sonic wind tunnels in Lone Star and Fort Worth, Texas. In 1956, Parmar married Jackie Sue Spigner. They were married for 56 years. In 1970, Parmar and Jackie moved their family to Tyler, where Parmar owned and operated several small businesses for the next 35 years. Parmar's main interest, outside of his family, was serving as an elder for the Broadway Church of Christ for 17 years. He and his family were charter members of the congregation. Parmar was preceded in death by his parents, Matha Parmar and Ruby Gregory; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. Published in Longview News-Journal on April 26, 2013
