Bio

Gus enlisted in the Army on June 16, 1953 and served in Bad Kreuznach, Germany in "A" Btry., 94th Bn., 2nd Division Hell on Wheels until May 5, 1955. Between the time before he entered the Army - and shortly after being released - he had married and had two daughters. Margaret Ann & Carol Marie. He divorced in Oct. 1956. He then remarried on July 1, 1960. He married Geraline Alice King Massey. She had two sons from a previous marriage - Lonnie Massey Jr. & Ricky Lee Massey. They relocated to Point Comfort, Texas and dad took up employment at Alcoa. He had a side job building homes. In 1962 Gus & Geraline had one daughter - Glenda Gean. His wife passed away in 1972 and he remarried again to Kathleen Gilcrease - who had a son from a previous marriage - Tim. Dad loved the outdoors. He spent a lot of time on the water. Fishing & boating were a passion. Tragically that's how he lost his life. While fishing under the causeway with two other people - the boat came untied and he attempted to swim to retrieve it. He was preceded in death by his father, (Gus), his sister (Leona) and his 2nd wife (Geraline).
