Lorraine Lukesh, 92, of Ord passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at the Valley View Living Center in Ord. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2013, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in with Fathers Tom Ryan and Mark Maresh will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Lorraine was born August 12, 1920, at Elyria, Nebraska to Peter and Victoria (Gregoroski) Duda. She graduated from Ord High School in 1938, as the Salutatorian. She attended Kearney State College. Lorraine taught at country schools around the area and was always happy to hear from her former students. She also worked in Omaha at the Martin Bomber Plant. On June 12, 1945, Lorraine was united in marriage to Elmer Lukesh at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. To this union four children were born, Mary, James, Kathleen "Kadi" and Karen. The Lukesh family made their home in Ord. Lorraine was a homemaker while her children were growing up. She was later employed at Beranek's Drug Store, Anderson's Pharmacy, Valley County Sheriff's Office, Region 26, and Hillcrest Motel and also provide child care. Lorraine volunteered as a 4-H leader, and at the Valley County Museum. She was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and Altar Society. Lorraine and Elmer enjoyed dancing and organized polka dances in Ord. She was an avid Cornhusker Football Fan. She loved to entertain and host family and holiday functions. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Linda Lukesh of Lincoln; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kadi Lukesh of Lincoln; Karen and Darien Cox of Grand Island; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Darrell Schmidt, Carl Schmidt, Beth (Darren) Brickel, Jenny (Justin) Kilzer, Barbara Lukesh, John (Amanda) Lukesh, Nathan Cox and Sadie Cox; seven great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Gage and Abby Schmidt, Leah and Nicholas Kilzer, William Lukesh and Lauren Brickel; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Ray and Jim Duda both of Ord and P. Edward and Kay Duda of Brick, NJ; two sisters, Florence Bastow of Casper, WY and Berniece Fiala of Ainsworth; a sister-in-law, Ruth Duda of Ord and a special friend, Bonnie Agress of Ord. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer who died March 1, 1999; a daughter, Mary Schmidt-Kment; one brother, John Duda and two sisters, Clara Ingebritson and Dorothy Sacotte.
