Bio

Travis is the son of Willie Leona Benton and George Washington Byrd. His parents separated when he was young, and his mother Willie was living in Las Animas, Colorado near her parents with her two young boys in 1920. By 1930 they were living in McLennan, Texas with their widowed grandmother. His mother, Willie Leona Benton is the daughter of Annie Moody and Jesse Earl Benton. Jesse E. Benton is the son of Margaret Elizabeth Oldham and Columbus Benton and was born in Alabama. Travis married Betty Ruth Deatherage.
