FORT WORTH - Mary Louetta Spivey Coates, 90, a homemaker who was affectionately known as "GaGa" to her family and "Lou" to her friends, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at a Fort Worth hospital. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Friday in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mary Coates was born Jan. 1, 1909, in Temple, Texas. She was a longtime resident of Fort Worth. Mary Coates held the honor of being the high priestess of the Ladies Oriental Shrine, where she gained great satisfaction sewing for crippled children. She was a homemaker, a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a Baptist. She was married to Staton C. Coates for 63 years. He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 1990.
