Bio

Chester R. Zoucha funeral is June 6 Chester R. Chet Zoucha, 67, rural Schuyler, died June 2, 2001, at his home. Funeral services for Zoucha were June 6 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustines Catholic Church in Schuyler, with Reverend William Whelan officiating. Burial was in the Schuyler Cemetery with graveside military rites by Hespen-Mitchell Post 4836 of the VFW and McLeod Post 47 of the American Legion. Visitation was June 5 from 12 noon to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. vigil service, all at the Kracl Funeral Chapel. There was no visitation for the public June 6 prior to services. Music was provided by Edith Nepper, organist, and Jo Groulik and Jack Seckman, vocalists. Pallbearers were Joe Sliva, Gary Zoucha, Greg Sliva, Gary Dixon, Dave Zelasney and Randy Sliva. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Borke, Roy Koziol, Lonny Koziol and Tim Swierczek. Zoucha was born June 27, 1933, in Platte County, to Joe P. and Mary (Zoucha) Zoucha. He attended school in the Tarnov area. He served in the U. S. Army from 1953 to 1955. On Sept. 27, 1958, he married Shirley Schmidt at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in rural Platte Center. They lived in Platte Center, and he worked at Behlen Manufacturing. In 1967, they moved to a farm southwest of Schuyler. He continued working at Behlens until 1971 and continued farming until the time of his death. He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Virginia (Mrs. Dan) Schmidt, Schuyler, Jane (Mrs. Mark) Wachal, Pleasant-dale, Mary Lynn (Mrs. David) -'Zadow, Omaha; three sons; Dan (Elaine), Schuyler, Dale (Kris), Hooper, Troy (Elaine), jSchuyler; 1 1 grandchildren; five brothers, Art, Larry (Helen), Bob (Jane) and Jerry, all of Omaha, and Joe Jr. (Sandy) of Georgia; four sisters. Rose (Mrs. ay) Zelasney and Patricia (Mrs. Gary) Dixon, all of Omaha, Annette (Mrs. Renny) Sliva of Hemmet, Calif., and Frances Swierczek, also of Omaha. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tony; and Sisters, Laura Koziol and Irene Borke. The family suggests memorials to family choice.
