Son of John Newton and Nancy Jane (Whitcraft)(Lance) Walton, born in the Drake neighborhood east of Holton. Death of the parents in 1880 left their two little boys, Will and George, orphans along with seven half brothers and sisters, who have passed on. George and Will were taken by Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Tucker, who cared for the little boys until they were old enough to assist with farm work and Will went to live with Sam Whitcraft. Married to Nellie May Latimer on Feb. 22, 1899 at Holton, KS; spent nearly all their married life on their farm in the Woodworth neighborhood. Three children: Robert Raymond, Nellie Myrtle and John Marion. He was a farmer and a member of the Baptist faith. Among his survivors were two grandchildren: Eunice Margaret and her husband, Mike Savenko, and Robert Paul and his wife, Ann: six great-grandchildren; Robert, Diane, Kip, Kelly, Kim, and Karla.
