(Published in Lubbock Evening Journal, Lubbock, Texas · Monday, May 02, 1983, Page 39) Clayton Lewis Services for Clayton S. Lewis, 79, of 2805 N. Paris Ave., will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Sanders Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Russell Moore, pastor of Skyline Baptist Church, and the Rev. Billie S. Smith, a Lubbock Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. Lewis died at 10:20 p.m. Sunday at his residence after a lengthy illness. The Vera native moved to Lubbock in 1918 from Clovis, N.M. He married Velma Markham Dec. 21, 1926, in Lubbock. The one-time farmer worked for the City of Lubbock from 1945 until his retirement in 1967. He was a member of Parkdale Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, H.P. of Plainview; four daughters, Margie Dunagan of Pampa, Jean Skinner of Smyer, Nell Snider of Lubbock and Betty Skidmore of Holyoke, Mass.; a sister, Flora B. Ward of Encinitas, Calif.; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Also known as Samuel Clayton Lewis.
