Thomas J. Smaus, 56, of Bruno, died Saturday, March 18, 2017 of natural causes at his residence near Bruno. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS: MEMORIALS TO FAMILY CHOICE FOR LATER DESIGNATION. PRIVATE FAMILY BURIAL. Thomas J. Smaus (Tom) was born October 27th, 1960 in Omaha, NE. Son of Milton and Eunice (Dolezal) Smaus. He married Karen “Kay” Codr on September 29, 1979 in Bee, NE. He was a devoted member of SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church (Plasi). Tom spent most of his life farming and trucking. He was an avid reader, enjoyed listening to the Beatles, watching Husker football, and playing in his poker and pool leagues. More than anything he enjoyed spending time with his family and immensely enjoyed his grandchildren. Tom was a simple but generous man and will be missed by all. Survived by wife, Karen Smaus, daughters Mandie (Larry) Polivka , Angie (Paul) Krivanek, Marissa (Greg) Roh, Carina Smaus, son David Smaus; mother Eunice Smaus; brother James (Kathy) Smaus; sister Nancy (Thomas William Jr.) Marshall; mother-in-law Mary Lou (Hladky) Codr; 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father Milton Smaus, father-in-law Donald Codr, brother-in-law David Dobesh, and nephew Jacob (Jake) Smaus.
