Obituary courtesy of Zabka Funeral Home, Seward: Diane Marie Scott was born on September 12, 1946, at the old Seward Hospital to Syl and Eileen (Niemann) Matulka and passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013, at the Seward Memorial Hospital Assisted Living, at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 3 days. She was the eldest of four children. She attended Marysville Parochial School through the 8th grade and graduated from Seward High School. On November 5, 1967, Diane married Robert Scott at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (Marysville) in rural Staplehurst, Nebraska. They were blessed with three girls and for more than 45 years they made their home in Seward County. Through the years she took pleasure in working alongside her husband on the family farm and had worked for Vahl Drug in Seward and Stych's Locker in Cordova. She also valued the many years serving the church as church secretary and teaching Sunday school and Bible School. Diane was proud of her years of service as leader of the Cordova 4-H club and the work she did with the Seward County 4-H program. She will be fondly remembered for her love for cooking and baking and her deep love for her family and the precious times they shared together. Diane relished being a grandmother to her grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert and three daughters and sons-in law, Jennifer and Troy; Michelle and Brent; and Tressa and Toby; and four grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Diane was preceeded in death by her parents, Syl and Eileen Matulka and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jens and Margaret Scott.
