Vernie M. Shuda, 81, of ..., died Monday, June 20 at St. Francis Medical Center. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Church. The Rev. Donald O'Brien will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be ...at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home... Mrs. Shuda was born April 6, 1907 at Paplin to Frank and Rosalia Klimek Stenka. Shortly after her birth her mother died and as a young child her father died so she lived with various relatives in several Nebraska cities. On May 17, 1922, she married Walter F. Shuda at Ashton. They made their home in the Ashton and North Loup area later moving to Wood River and Grand Island in March of 1959. Her husband died Dec. 28, 1959. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish Church and the Eagles Auxiliary. She is survived by one son, Clarence Shuda of Grand Island; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; one brother, Tony Stenka of Paxton, and one sister, Elizabeth Damratowski of Grand Island.
