Bio

Winnifred Eldes Smith Adamson, 89, died May 4, 1991 in Salt Lake City, following a brief illness. Born February 14, 1902 in Pleasant Grove to Earl C. and Elizabeth May Baxter Smith. She married Paul A. Adamson July 16, 1924 in the Logan LDS Temple. He passed away June 9, 1982. She graduated an honor student from Pleasant Grove High School, class of 1920. A member of the LDS Church, she served many years as a teacher in MIA and Literary in the Relief Society, etc. She supported her husband in many civic organizations such as Chamber of Commerce, Lady Lions Club, and was a charter member of Cadmus Club (a literary and service organization). She was a devoted homemaker, teacher, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by a son, Dr. Kenneth P. Adamson, Salt Lake City; a daughter, Mrs. Raquel Condie, Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cumorah Cullimore, Pleasant Grove; Leah Stewart of Orem. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse Benarr and Eldores Smith, and a sister, Luretha Bezzant. Funeral services will be Wednesday, at 12:00 in the Pleasant Grove 1st Ward Chapel, 275 East 500 South. Friends may call at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday, one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. (Obituary printed in the Deseret News May 6, 1991.)
