Bio
Albert Gus Filla, age 86, was born Aug. 7, 1926, in Taylor. He passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at the Trinity Care Center. He is preceded in death by his wife, Etta; and two sisters, Mildred Hodon and Sadie Stacha; and four brothers, Leo Filla, Ernest Filla, John Filla and Joe Filla. He is survived by sister-in-law, Rosie Filla, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He is a veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corp from Oct 10, 1947 to Sept. 21, 1956. He received the Korean Service Medal with the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal and Korean PUC with two Oak Leaf Clusters. Prior to military service he was a cement finisher. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 15, at Condra Funeral Home with services by Rev. Hejl. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Taylor Brethren Church.
