Las Vegas Sun Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999 Edwin Joseph Kahanek, 69, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Texas. A resident for 33 years, he was an inspector for the Nevada Test Site, an Army veteran and a member of the Elks. He is survived by his wife, Helen; three sons, Kelly Kahanek, William Wayne Paul and Steven Bruce Paul; two daughters, Renee Melton and Lee Ann Carroll; two sisters, Irene Malcik and Dorothy Machycek; and seven grandchildren. A memorial service was scheduled 1-3 p.m. today at the family residence. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, handled arrangements.
