Fort Bend Herald, May 31, 2006: Services for Ella Olga Macek, 92, of Rosenberg, who resided at the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home in Needville, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2006 in the chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg, Texas. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg, Texas, with the Rev. Henry Beseda and the Rev. Larry Butcher officiating the services. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2006 in the stateroom of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg, Texas. Mrs. Macek died May 28, 2006 in the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home in Needville, Texas. She was born in Temple, Bell County, Texas on May 7, 1914 to Frank Edward Hejl Sr. and Emilie (Lesikar) Hejl. She grew up and attended school and church at Seaton, and graduated from Temple High School. She went to nurse's training at Memorial Hospital in Houston, Texas in 1935. She had desired to be a nurse but was not able to because her hands were sensitive to water. She also attended Draughton's Business College in Dallas, Texas in 1937. Ella married Charles Wesley Macek June 24, 1940 in Caldwell, Texas. After making their home in Rosenberg, Fort Hood and Granger, where they owned a grocery store, they then came back to Rosenberg. She was an excellent cook and homemaker. She worked at the Fort Bend County Library and enjoyed driving the Bookmobile. Her love for reading was very obvious to all. She was a member of the Rosenberg Brethren Church and was very active with the Christian Sisters organization and served as a board member numerous times and served God in many capacities. Ella was a former member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 47, Seaton Star Hall and received her 50-year pin in 1986. She was a life member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 429 in Rosenberg. Ella loved reading, fishing, hunting, cooking, canning, entertaining, gardening, flowers and plants. She had a great love of nature, animals and birds. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles (Charlie) Wesley Macek, in 1986; her parents; three brothers; three sisters; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; two nephews; one great-nephew; and one great-niece. Ella is survived by sisters: Della Mares of Temple, Texas, and Dorothy Hogan of Nolanville, Texas; niece, Trudy Wood and husband, Don, of Matagorda, Texas; great-nephew, Duncan Wood of Rosenberg, Texas; along with numerous other loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. Pallbearers are Robert "Bobby" Hejl, Alvin Hejl, Hank Mares, Danny Mares, Edward Mares and Leroy Parthum. Honorary Pallbearers are Jerry Mikulas Jr., Don Wood, Duncan Wood, Glenn Odstrcil, Melton Carver, Rob Hamm, Virgil Macek, Johnny Marek, John Shenkir, Dr. Jack Wilkerson, Jerry Terrill, Ottomer Schimek, Darden McGlothlin, Chris Corbin, Alan Farrar and Frank Bryant.
