Vergil Lincicum Expires at 80 The Homer Enterprise November 8, 1963 Homer –CC—Funeral services were conducted Nov. 4 for Vergil E. Lincicum, 80, of Homer, in the Jeanes Funeral Home with Rev. William J. Edmunds officiating, and interment was made in the GAR Cemetery. Mr. Lincicum died at 5:30 a.m. Nov. 2 in the Champaign County Nursing Home where he had lived for a year and a half. Born Oct. 12, 1883, at Chillicothe, O., he was a son of Elijah and Marry Detty Lincicum. He came to Illinois in 1898 and farmed in the Homer area. He was married to Della Holler, who died in 1913. In 1919 he was married to Violet Hackney, who preceded him in death in 1951. Surviving are 3 brothers, Bert of Homer; Earl of Bement; and Ben of Carlyle, Ind.; 3 step-children, Marvin Hackney of Broadlands; Irvin Hackney of Homer and Mrs. Rose Wilson of Chicago; 3 step-grandchildren; and one step-sister, Mrs. Maude Huff of Danville. Also preceding him in death were 1 sister, 1 brother, 2 half-brothers and 1 half-sister. (transcribed by Homer Historical Society) Vergil's parents were Elijah and Mary E. (Detty) Lincicum. He first married Della Sophrano Holler on September 11, 1912 in Miami County, Indiana. After her death, he married Viletta (Melton) Hackney Wilson Hackney Ellsworth about 1921.
