Bio

Martha Crews, 95, of Mexico peacefully departed this life on March 10, 2013. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Mexico with Pastor Jim Cruickshank officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30 PM Tuesday at Arnold Funeral Home. Martha was born on January 15, 1918, the youngest daughter of Arthur (A.D.) and Ethel Spurling. Martha was united in marriage to Ralph Leland Crews on March 6, 1938 in Fulton and he preceded her in death on March 23, 1976. Martha was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mexico for more than 70 years. For over 50 years she was an active member of the Mexico Rebekah Lodge #295. Along with Leland, Martha worked at the Frendall and Wilkins Department store and later in life she was employed as an assistant cashier at Montgomery Ward, and Cline's Department Store. Survivors omitted. Along with her husband, Leland, Martha was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Vera Roberson, Mary Katherine Scott and Nadine Helwig, brother, A. D. Spurling, and son-in-law, Charlie Ray. The family suggests donations be made in Martha's name to the First Presbyterian Church or to a charity of the donor's choice, c/o Arnold Funeral Home, 425 South Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265.
