Bio

Paul "Gene" Krance, of St. Paul, NE. died Saturday, March 09, 2013 at the Nebraska Veteran's Home in Grand Island, NE. Gene was born April 21, 1935 to Daniel C. & Katherine P.(Kowalski) Krance at Albion, NE. Gene was raised and attended country school in the St. Edward, NE. area until the 8th grade. Gene entered the United States Army on November 30, 1953. He was honorably discharged on November 29, 1956. After his discharge he worked for Mike Valasek for many years in Palmer. Gene was united in marriage to Dorothy Griffin on December 24, 1971 in St. Paul, Nebraska. Gene worked at Union Grain for 15 years at St. Libory, NE. He also worked for S.E. Smith & Sons until his retirement. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul, NE.; a member of the Burton-Beyer American Legion Post #120 of Palmer, NE. and the VFW. Gene enjoyed singing and karaoke to the old country ‘twang' and playing the guitar for family. He had a special love for Polka's and relished the Polish background. Gene is survived by: son, Ray Krance of Palmer, NE.; daughters & sons-in-law, Paula & Jason Rathman of Wood River, NE., Lorie & Matt Joseph of Palmer, NE. and Jodi Urban of Osceola, ME.; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; brother & sister-in-law, Ed & Sally Krance of Omaha, NE. and sister, Margie Mahoney of Omaha, NE. Gene is preceded in death by: parents; brother, Mike Krance; sisters, Anna Tywiek, Regina Tworek, Delores Rotherham and granddaughter Kayla Krance. Interment was in The Rose Hill Cemetery, Palmer, NE. with military honors at graveside by the Burton Beyer American Legion Post #120 of Palmer, NE.
