Lois Baker, 92, a lifetime resident of Florence, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2006. She was born on February 10, 1914, to parents Ira Shepherd and Ola (Ratliff) Shepherd. Lois worked as a teacher's aide for the Florence I.S.D. She was a past member of Texas Farm Bureau. Lois was an avid fisherman, hunter, and camper. Lois loved to travel with her family. She was a member of Primitive Baptist church in Florence. Lois was as wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey F. Baker; parents, Ira and Ola Shepherd; brother, Ira Shepherd and sisters, Janie Caskey and Zekle Faith. Lois is survived by sons, Harvey Norman Baker of Florence, Ronald Baker and wife Mary of Hamilton and Roger Baker of Victoria; daughter, Gayle Baker and husband Leo Sinclair of Lake Cormorant, Missouri; sisters, Imogene Baker of Corpus Christi and Olene Stewart of Florence; brother, Carl Shepherd of Austin; grandchildren, Teresa Baker of Miami, Florida, Tara Georgeson of Houston, Franklin Baker of Belton, Marissa Baker of Dallas, Kimberly Fain of Burnet, Diana Freeman of Hamilton, Ronda Baker of Mansfield, Roger Baker of Austin, Rex Baker of North Carolina, Robert Baker of Andice, Crystal Overby of Hernando, Missouri, and Clint Whitehead of Estes Park, Colorado, and numerous great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Wednesday, August 23, at Primitive Baptist Church in Florence with Elder Bruce Crawford officiating. Interment followed at Florence City Cemetery in Florence.
