Bio

Garry Louis Scheinost, son of Louis E. and Myrtle R. (Johnson) Scheinost, was born October 20, 1940, at Spencer, NE. Garry died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Avera St. Anthony Hospital, O'Neill, Ne. Garry attended Spencer (NE.) Public Schools all 12 years, graduating in 1958. He was married to Lois M. Strong on January 15, 1961, at the United Methodist Church in O'Neill, NE. The couple was blessed with three children: Tonya, Javid, and Kaylen. Garry lived in Spencer his entire life, where he was involved in trucking for over 50 years. Garry started driving truck for his dad at the age of 15, and continued to work with his dad until 1977, when Garry bought the trucking business from his dad. Garry owned and operated Scheinost Trucking until his retirement in 2002. He not only served as a boss to his drivers, but also a friend and mentor; Garry touched the lives of so many. Garry was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, and also a member of the Tangier Shriners, Scottish Rites, and Garfield Lodge. Garry was a pilot, and enjoyed flying his Cessna 182 or Piper Cub to anywhere. He took many a first-time flyer up to enjoy the beauty from above. Garry was an avid fisherman, and looked forward to taking his boat up to Lake Francis Case, and also enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada. He loved goose hunting with his buddies, and spending time in the blind. Garry also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, and was always spending time at the farm, helping out wherever needed, especially during calving season. His grandkids and great-grandkids meant the world to him, and he would have done anything for them. Garry is survived by: wife, Lois Scheinost of Spencer, Nebraska; daughter, Tonya Petersen and friend Troy of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; son, Javid Scheinost and wife Michelle of Crestwood, Kentucky; daughter, Kaylen and husband Kelly of Spencer, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a very special Uncle, Bill Scheinost; and side-kick, Daisy.
