Valla Lynelde "Nelda" Swafford died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at a Fisher County hospital. Services are 10 a.m. today in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Baker and the Rev. Werth Mayes officiating. Burial in Belvieu Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home. Mrs. Swafford was born in Roscoe and married Joe Swafford in 1955. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW, Fisher County R.V. Club, and was a member of Highland Heights Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Joe Swafford of Rotan; three daughters, Joy Lynn Coleman of Sweetwater, Jacquie McCrosby of Clinton, Jeannette Lea Malcer of Trent; one son, Bobby Joe Swafford Jr. of Merkel; her father, Allen Hull of Rotan; nine grandchildren; several nieces.
