Sherman Democrat Wednesday, August 31, 1966 MRS. DORA E. SWEENEY DIES: SERVICES THURSDAY Van Alstyne - Mrs. Dora Ellen Sweeney, 91, died Monday night in a Sherman hospital. Services for Mrs. Sweeney will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the First Methodist Church of Van Alstyne. Rev. B.C. Robertson and Rev. Ralph White will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Van Alstyne Cemetery under the direction of Flesher Funeral Home. Mrs. Sweeney was born July 27, 1875, in Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ben Bell. She was married to Max Sweeney who preceded her in death in 1946. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Rex Simpson, Mrs. Elmer Crawford, Mrs. Louis Grider and Mrs. J.D. Shaw, all of Van Alstyne; two brothers, John Bell of Van Alstyne and Joe Bell of Plano; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
