Darvin Martinets Sr. of Freeport, Texas was born May 20, 1928 in Granger, Texas to Lydia (Cervenka) and Frank Martinets and died February 25, 2013 in Clute, Texas at the age of 84. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return from the military he married Alice Selucky. After his marriage, he worked for the Texas Highway Department for 12 years then moved to Freeport, Texas in 1966 so that he could work for DOW Chemical. His passions were bowling and deer hunting and taking his grandson Jody with him. He loved going to the Jr. Drag races to watch Jody race. Everyone called him the best rib cooker ever! He enjoyed cooking for everyone. He was always working, if not for DOW, he was painting houses. If he had a beer in his hand and a barbeque pit smoking he was at his happiest. He never met a stranger. All he wanted was for everyone to have fun, even as he fought a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Danny Martinets; grandson, Jody Martinets. He is survived by his wife, Alice; son, Darvin Jr. and his wife Natalie; daughter, Beverly; step-granddaughter, Tiffany Nelson and her husband Dakota; step-great granddaughter, Presley Nelson.
