Bio

Joyce Lee (Irwin) Murphy, 72, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at the Church of Christ Care Center in Clinton Township, Michigan. Formerly of Kansas City, Joyce resided in Clinton Township for the last 14 years. Joyce was born June 18, 1940, to Pearl (Pitney) Bernand and Floyd Irwin of Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Central High School in Kansas City. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Al Murphy. Until she moved to Michigan, Joyce owned her own accounting firm, Accounting Services, on Independence Avenue. She was a vivacious and fun-loving lady, who always made you laugh and welcomed family and friends into her home. Joyce will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her children, Laura Gibbard of Michigan, Scott (Savannah) Highfield of Independence, MO, and Paula (James) Boggs of Michigan; six grandchildren, Courtney, Emily, Samantha, Patrick, Christina and Savannah; step-brothers, Kevin DeVasher and Lloyd Albert Bernand; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and one 'sister'/cousin, Cheryl Hylton. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, at the Tucker Cemetery, Higbee, MO. The family requests no flowers.
