SCHUYLER - Ruby Rabe, 82, of Schuyler, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha. Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Schuyler, with the Deacon Bill Mattfeld officiating. Burial is at Schuyler Cemetery. Visitation is from noon-8 p.m. Sunday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Mrs. Rabe was born Nov. 30, 1922, in St. Edward, to George and Emma (Konopik) Novotny. She attended rural school near St. Edward until moving to Schuyler at age 7. She graduated from Schuyler High School in 1941 and later graduated from Commercial Extension School in Omaha. She married Robert A. Rabe Sept. 15, 1946, in Schuyler. She worked as a bookkeeper in Omaha, Norfolk and Columbus before moving to Colorado in 1955. In Colorado, she worked for a savings and loan and Russel Stover. She was a member of the church. She enjoyed flowers, cooking, skiing and traveling. Survivors include her husband of Schuyler; one son, Robert W. Rabe of Schuyler; one daughter, Renate (Andrew) McCorkle of Schuyler; one sister-in-law, Louise Novotny of Omaha; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Martin Novotny. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund.
