She was a lifetime resident of Gainesville, and a faithful member of the First Christian Church and the order of the Eastern Star. She was born Nov. 9, 1919, in Oakland, Ark. to the late A. D. and Delphia McDonald. She was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Luna, who was married to Gene Luna, and an infant brother. She was an employee at the Gainesville School until her retirement in 1983. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Hayden Carter. She is also survived by her tow daughters and their husbands, Ron and Carolyn Goodwyn, and Steve and Pam Hutchinson, both of Springfield; four granddaughters and their husbands, Greg and Julia Scott of Branson, Earl and Rhonda Wallace of Springfield, Kevin and Janeen Scott of Springfield, Kirk and Jennifer Bouse of Willard; three great grandchildren, Brandon Scott of Springfield, Brianna and Courtney Wallace of Springfield; two sisters and their husbands, Benton and Genelle Breeding, and R. G. and Mary Ruth Landers, all of Gainesville; three nieces; two nephews; two great nieces; and three great nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Services were 1;00 p.m., Friday, Oct. 13, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Reverends Wiley McGhee and Larry Potts officiating Burial was in Gainesville Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Christian Church in Gainesville.
