*NOTE* Some have assigned, through Ancestry websites, Augustus Greenberry Darnell to be the father of James Pendleton Darnell, however HE IS NOT. I believe the error of adding James (JP) to Augustus came after the death of James P. According to Curtis P. Darnell, son of JP, his uncle Gus, helped to care for the family after his dad's death until Mattie sold the farm and they moved away. Son of: Duncan B. Darnell and Jency McCluskey Darnell Husband of Issabella (Belle) Winston; married 25 Nov 1874 in Morgan County, AL, Issabella Winton 1855-1886 daughter of William West Winton and Mary Ann Holden, Morgan County, AL Martha (Mattie) A. Pike; married 9 Dec. 1886, Etowah County, AL daughter of Silas J. Pike, Civil War Vet and Martha Elizabeth Thompson James and Issabella had 3 children: Willie L. Darnell Emma Lou Darnell Nash James P.
