Bio

Mary A. Greser, 94 yrs, of Fremont, NE died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Nye Legacy Health & Rehab Center in Fremont. She was born August 29, 1918 in Schuyler, NE to John and Veronica(Simodines) Madr. She was the 3rd child of 10, 8 girls and 2 boys. She attended School District 60 in Colfax County. Mary worked as a hired girl helping families in the Schuyler area until moving to Omaha with her sisters in 1940. She worked as a maid for a year and during that time she attended Riveting School. After completion of that course, she worked at the Martin Bomber Plant as a riveter on B26 and B29 Bombers until WWII ended. She was one of the "Rosie the Riverters". Mary married Marion Ralph Greser on March 25, 1945 in Schuyler, NE. The couple lived in Fremont for a few years, then farmed near Battle Creek, David City and Schuyler They returned to Fremont in 1960. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Lydia Circle and the Tuesday Bible Group, "Friendship in Christ" for 25 years. She was also a lifetime member of the Auxiliary of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 18 of Fremont and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #4568 of Schuyler. Mary volunteered for Grant Elementary School's Library and the PTA when her children where in school there. Ralph and Mary were members of the CB Radio Club from 1967 to 1977. She was a member of the Starlighters and Spinning Wheels Square Dance Club for 18 years. She is survived by her son, Douglas Ralph & wife, Kelly Greser of Fremont; daughters, Donna & husband, Mike Master of Antelope, CA, Louella & husband, Richard Zabovnik of Oklahoma, OK and Janet Greser of Lincoln, NE; sisters, Pauline Smith and Pat Hanson both of Omaha; 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marion, who died June 21, 1977; 3 sons, Curt, Ronald & Howard Greser; brothers, Stephen & John Madr; sisters, Julia Krov, Ellen Madr, Rose Slegl, Lottie Walters and Mildred Kolm; granddaughter, Denise Villotta; and great grandchild, Taylor Maren Smith. Memorial Service, 11 AM, Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. Gundar Lamberts will officiate. There is no viewing, however, the family will greet friends on Friday from 6 PM to 8 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church.
