The Benkelman Post and News-Chronicle, Benkelman, Nebraska, March 12, 1953, p. 6, transcribed by Linda Berney: Richard Eugene Holub, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Holub, was born near Beadsley, Kansas, on April 15, 1925 and departed his life at the Rawlins County Hospital, Atwood, Kansas on February 18, 1953 at the age of 27 years, 10 months and 2 days. He was called into the Armed Forces in the year 1945 and served a period of 14 months. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Atwood American Legion. He had been employed at the Niswonger Hay and Grain Co. until two months ago when he took seriously ill. He was united in marriage to Darlene Marie Tongish in St. Mary's Church at Herndon, Kans., on October 25, 1949. To this union two children were born, one son, Joseph Eugene, 2 1/2 years of age , one daughter, Sharon Kay, 8 1/2 months of age. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Surviving him are his wife Darlene, two children, Joseph Eugene and Sharon Kay of Atwood; his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Holub, Beardsley; his mother-in-law and father-inlaw, Mr. and Mrs. William Tongish, Herndon, Kansas; two brothers, Frank Holub of Germany, Albert Holub of Beardsley; six sisters, Mrs. Alice Horinek of McCook, Nebr., Mrs. Martha Horinek, Ludell, Kansas; Mrs. Mary Lawrence, Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. Dorothy Reinert, Selden, Kansas; and Agnes and Betty Holub of Beardsley, Kansas, and a host of other relatives and friends. He will be sadly missed by his relatives and many friends and acquaintances. ....The body was laid to its final resting in Mt.
