Edna Greener Lupton, 96, passed away quietly in her Shallowater home on January 18, 2013. Edna was born in the German settlement of Westphalia, Texas on August 11, 1916 to Herman and Annie (Beimer) Greener. In 1924 the Greener family moved to the newly established German settlement of Pep, Texas. She married the late Walter Lupton in Pep on February 24, 1941. The couple settled in Shallowater the same year and they were married for 53 years. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lupton in 1994; son, Harry James Lupton; sister, Mary Greener; and brothers, Syl, Ben, Jim, Herbie and Bobby Greener. She is survived by sons, Sonny (Jan) and Pat (Janice)Lupton both of Shallowater; daughters, Kay Licona (Memo) of Santa Teresa, N.M., Ann McGinty (Kenneth), Bunny Payne (Bob), Grace Simmons (Brad) all of Lubbock, and Christy Christian (Lewis) of Jacksboro; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother, Buddy Greener of Lubbock; sisters, Geraldine Williams of Morton, Kay Mouney of Woodside, Calif., and Roberta Greener of Sunny Vale, Calif. Pallbearers will be Patrick, Ryan, and Lorne Lupton, Brandon McGinty, Jay Christian and Travis Stamps. . Published in The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal from January 21 to January 22, 2013
