Bio

Parents: Father: Ira Ray Fowler Mother: Lillian Viola McDaniel Spouse: Lee Johnson Marriage: May 6, 1938 Manti, Sanpete, Utah Virginia Johnson Virginia M. Johnson, previously of Caldwell, passed away in a Boise care center on May 31, 2007. Born Virginia M. Fowler on June 17, 1915, in Tetonia, she grew up in Driggs until she fell for the "new school teacher in town," Lee Johnson, and started a loving union which was to last over 70 years. The newlyweds moved to Twin Falls and then later to Nampa where they started their family. In the early '50s they raised "hops" in the Huston area where Virginia coordinated the social schedule, supported her husband in farming and raised their family. As their children matured, she found a new passion as a 4th grade teacher at the Pleasant Ridge Grade School. Upon retirement, Lee and Virginia split their time between Caldwell and Mesa, Ariz., as well as square dance halls all over the West. Virginia is survived by her husband Lee, daughter, Kay Cherry and her husband Blaine of Caldwell and son Ray and his wife Betsy of Boise; as well as numerous grand and great-grand children. She was preceded in death by daughter Marilyn Anderson of Kaysville, Utah. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Willow Park and Capital Care nursing facilities for their gentle care and compassion during her last years of her life. Virginia was a lifelong member of the Caldwell LDS church. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 4, at the Caldwell L.D.S. Stake Center, 3015 S. Kimball Ave. Interment will be at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell. Idaho Press-Tribune, Saturday, June 2, 2007
