Bio

Services for Bernice Harlan, 74, of Slaton will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Cleve Kerby, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery under direction of Englunds Funeral Service. She died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at Lubbock's St. Mary Hospital. She was born July 2, 1923, in Nevada and was a lifelong Slaton resident. She was a member of the Slaton Garden Club, the Pioneer Study Club, the Athenian Study Club and past president of the Women's Chamber of Commerce. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school there for 40 years. She married George H. Harlan on Nov. 26, 1941, in Slaton. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jerry and Bobby, both of Slaton; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
