Marion Benjamin Sparks, son of James Alfred & Alice Allen "Milstead" Sparks, married 1st Inder Gregory on February 5, 1897 in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma Territory. They were married less than a year when Inder died of tuberculosis. Marion married 2nd Mary Emerine Gates on December 24, 1899 in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma Territory. They were married in the home of Daniel & Amy Bessinger. Mary Emerine Gates & Amy Gates were daughters of Stephen and Angeline Gates of Napoleon, Missouri. Marion & Emerine were the parents of 5 children; Gilbert Romanis Sparks, Harvey Lawrence Sparks, Inez Madeline West, Marion Harold Sparks & John Dee Woodrow known as J. D. or Jack Sparks. Marion is buried next to his wife, Emerine Sparks in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. His 1st wife Inder Gregory Sparks is buried next to her brother, Thomas Gregory & her father, Griffin Clifford Gregory in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. The Pilgrims Rest Cemetery is located in Cleveland County, two and one half miles south of Newalla, Oklahoma. Newalla is located in Oklahoma County.
