Steven L. Mayers, 47, of Great Bend, died Sept. 23, 2005, at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend. He was born Sept. 6, 1958, at Osborne, the son of Virgil and Helen Pahls Mayers. He married Roxanne Feist on Aug. 12, 1978, at Great Bend. He was owner/operator of EQ Muffler, Great Bend. He was a lifetime resident of Great Bend, living for a short while in Oakley and Wichita. He was a member of the Catholic Community of Great Bend at St. Patrick's, Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. Survivors include his mother, Helen Blado of Great Bend; a son, Jason Mayers, and his wife, Jayme, of Great Bend; two daughters, Janelle Mayers, Great Bend, and Jennifer Pekarek and her husband, Bryan, of Hays, and their mother, Roxanne; three brothers, Joe Mayers of Great Bend, Frank Mayers of Piedmont, Okla., and John Mayers of Albert; and three sisters, Virginia Ramey of Great Bend, Vivian Pavlicka of Wichita and Barbara File of Beloit. He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Mayers. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend, with Father Ted Stoecklein officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Great Bend. Memorial donations may be made to the Optimist Club of Great Bend in care of the funeral home.
