Helen J. Jothen, 90, of Westby, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. She was born Oct. 1, 1922, on the Wang Homestead in the town of Clinton, to Ole and Mabel (Bakken) Wang. She graduated from Cashton High School and Vernon County Normal. She was a teacher at Rognstad Ridge and Knapp schools. She married Norman Jothen on June 1, 1946. They farmed in Vernon County nearly their entire married life. She also worked at several businesses in Vernon County and at Cashton High School. She was devoted to her family and proud of her Norwegian heritage. She is survived by four children, John (Virgie) Jothen, Dennis Jothen, Myron (Cora) Jothen and Norene (Randy) Schreiner; 10 grandchildren, Brenda (Scott), Traci (Dave), Dan (Jodi), Myron Jr. (Andrea), Jerry (Jade), Lance (Carissa), Adam (Tiffany), Matt (Stephanie), Leah (Michael) and Kristina; and 12 great-grandchildren, John, Savana, Justin, Jacob, Aubrey, McKenna, Lydia, Jesse, Kaydan, Prestyn, Liberty and Aria. She will join loved ones who have passed on before: her parents; three infant brothers; her husband; dear sister, Margaret (Wang) Paulson; and brother, Clifford Wang; daughter-in-law, Judy (Blackburn) Jothen, an angel too soon; and many brothers and sisters-in-law. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at the Westby Coon-Prairie Lutheran Church. Visitation was at the church on Saturday until time of service. Pastor Dennis Hallemeier officiated with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery.
