Joe Wesley Svehlak, 80, passed away in Ennis, Texas, on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2013, with Rosary at 7 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2013, in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis with Father John Dick as celebrant. Entombment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Joe was born in Ellis County, Texas, to the late Joe Jerry and Rosie (Vrana) Svehlak. He grew up in Ellis County and attended school at St. John Catholic School. On October 17, 1959, Joe married Theresa Sulak and they made their home in Ennis, Texas. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy aboard the USS Boyd during the Korean War. Joe worked for Ennis Business Forms for 47 years as a pressman. He was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, KJT and VFW, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved to cook. He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Svehlak, on December 11, 2005. Survivors include his sons, Joey Svehlak and his wife, Rhonda, and Jeff Svehlak; daughters, Lorrie Nichols and her husband, Joe, and Allison Svehlak, all of Ennis; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Henrietta Steele, of Ennis, and Geraldine and Joe Melvin, of Mesquite.
