Evelyn Dorothy Forsberg, 87, of Burdick, Kansas passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Council Grove Healthcare Center. She was born August 25, 1925 to Paul and LauraEtta (Swanson) Schump in Herington, Kansas. She graduated from Wilsey High School and attended Emporia State Teachers College. Evelyn married Earl Forsberg on September 24, 1947 in Herington. He preceded her in death on September 20, 2005. They had three children: Dean, Jane and Bonnie. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Morris County Republican Women. She served on Township 8 Election Board for several years. She was also the secretary for the Burdick-Diamond Valley Fire District. Evelyn taught school at Rosedale School and enjoyed crocheting, quilting and was an excellent seamstress. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with her family. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter Sierra Forsberg, brother Elmer Schump, grandson-in-law Danny Crabtree and son-in-law Pete Migis. She is survived by her son Dean Forsberg and wife Nanette, of Burdick, Jane Rickenbrode, of Council Grove and Bonnie Sue Hefner and husband Keith, of Wagoner, OK; grandchildren Tina Crabtree, Sabrina Dunkin, Joseph Forsberg, Savannah Hicks (Willie), Ethan Forsberg, Wade Rickenbrode and Morgan Rickenbrode;7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers Earl Schump and wife Ruth, of Herington, Harold Schump and wife Oraina, of Arlington, TX and Harry Schump, of Herington; and many nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00pm, Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, with a visitation following from 6:30 to 8:00. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Thursday, January 3rd, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Diamond Springs Cemetery.
