Alice married Will Arnett in Rutherford county, Tennessee, on May 19, 1878. The family migrated by train to West Texas in 1901, later settling in what was then Beaver county, Oklahoma Territory. According to one of her granddaughters, Alice collapsed from exhaustion and died after helping fight a prairie fire that had been started when one of her sons flipped a lit cigarette into the field. Quanah [TX] Tribune-Chief , Sunday, June 25, 1905 Gypsum: The sad news was received at this place Saturday evening that Mrs. W. T. Arnett of Hooker, Okla, died the 15th this month. Mr. Arnett went to Beaver county, Okla., about a year ago. He used to live at this place and his many friends of this place regret very much to hear of his wife’s death. She leaves a husband and seven children at home. We all sympathize with the bereaved husband and children. Mrs. K. L. Page, the daughter of Mr. Arnett, and two children left last Thursday morning for Hooker, Okla. to see their mother and grandmother but she was laid to rest before they got there.
